A Chorus Line chronicles the lives of Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line. It opened on Broadway in 1976 and went on to win nine Tony Awards out of 12 nominations and the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Set on a bare stage, the show tells the story of how the 19 main characters, the performers and the choreographer, decided to become dancers based on the pivotal events in their lives. It is the longest-running Broadway musical of those originally produced in the U.S., and the fourth longest-running show of all time.
