A Christmas Carol is one of the world's best known musicals, adapted from the 1843 novella of the same name written by Charles Dickens. This production was performed annually from December 1994 to December 2003 at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The music was scored by Alan Menken with lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, who also co-wrote the book with Mike Ockrent. It is the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, and how the events of one Christmas Eve help him mend his ways and embrace the people around him.
