Born of Italian and Jewish-American parents, singer, songwriter and guitarist Ani DiFranco played her first gig at the young age of nine. She has over 20 albums to her credit and is a Grammy Award winner as well. Her lyrics are thought evoking and focus on topics such as GLBT issues, war, the music industry and sexual issues. Her music can be classified as both alternative rock and folk rock and she has collaborated with various artists. Buffalo News has toasted DiFranco as "Buffalo's leading lady of rock music."
