Blind Boys of Alabama, a gospel group from Alabama whose three core members are blind, have wowed the American public with their spirit and enterprise. Formed at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in 1939, the group has won numerous Grammy awards, invitations to perform for past presidents, and some of their covers have been featured on popular TV programs including HBO's The Wire and ABC's Lost. Their contributions to various charities for the visually impaired have won them recognition and accolades from both domestic and international dignitaries.
