Well here we are college football fans. Back to where we started. Yes Ohio State tickets are back at #1 on the FanSnap FanDemand rankings. And just in time for the Buckeyes first Big 10 game, a matchup against the Fighting Illini. Ohio State continues to rally fans with their Heisman candidate quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who continues to make incredible plays up and down the field. It’s been a nice start for the Buckeyes, now the question is can they stay hot down the stretch?

Ranking #2 are Iowa Hawkeyes tickets and just behind them, we find the thriller of the past weekend, Alabama Crimson Tide (tickets). Alabama had an incredible comeback victory against Arkansas during week 4 to save their national championship hopes.

Looking ahead, the hottest game for the upcoming week is the Red River Shootout, featuring Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners (tickets). Held on a neutral field in Dallas at the Texas State Fair, this game is always a hot ticket. In fact, tickets are averaging $426.00. For the first time this season, we have a repeat #1 in the FanSnap FanDemand rankings. Yes that’s right fans, even with the heartbreaking loss to the Arizona Wildcats, Iowa Hawkeyes tickets remain at the top of the list. Hawkeyes fans are ready to bounce back and should have an easy week taking on Ball State. Of course on the other side of that game, we’d like to see Wildcat fans rally behind their team after that impressive victory. Arizona Wildcat tickets still haven’t broken into our top 25. The Wildcats look to extend their winning streak this week against Cal.

One of the most-anticipated games of the week features #3 on the FanDemand rankings, the Alabama Crimson Tide (tickets) heading to #17 Arkansas Razorbacks ( tickets). This is the start of a three game gauntlet for the Crimson Tide who follow up their game with the Razorbacks with #18 Florida Gators (tickets) and South Carolina Gamecocks (tickets). Both the Gators and the Gamecocks have fallen significantly in our rankings since opening the season at #6 and #18 respectively.  

Other hot tickets include Oregon State Beavers @ Boise State Broncos tickets, where the average value is $230.00 and UCLA Bruins @ Texas Longhorns tickets.

Taking a quick look at the conference breakdown, the Big 10 is holding on strong to the two top spots, but the league only has one other team in the top 25. Its clear Iowa, Ohio State and Penn State are pulling in the fans. But what about you Michigan State fans? Surely after that last second, gutsy call against Notre Dame, fans have to be pumped for the Spartans! South of the Big 10, the Big 12 seems to be making a nice move up the rankings. At the start of the season the league had only 5 teams listed. The FanDemand ranking now features 7 Big 12 teams, with the unlikely Kansas Jayhawks leading the league at #6.

With returning Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, Alabama Crimson Tide tickets are some of the hottest in the nation. Of course Ingram is only part of the team. When you look at the USA Today preseason poll, Alabama and Florida are in the top 5, but the next SEC team doesn’t come into play until LSU at #16. Arkansas weighs in at #19 and Georgia and Auburn round out the bottom of the rankings at #21 and #23 respectively. Of course those rankings are based on what’s likely to happen on the field. Off the field and in the stands, the SEC stands as the conference with the most sought after tickets.

The FanSnap Top 25 College FanDemand Rankings include 7 SEC teams, more than any other conference. By comparison, the Big 12 is the next closest league with only 5 teams.

When we breakdown the SEC , we see that BCS National Champions, Alabama Crimson Tide, command the highest dollar. Average ticket price to watch a game in Tuscaloosa is $504 (the second hottest ticket in the nation behind Ohio State). The Tide have only two returning starters on defense, but the man of the hour, Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram will be back running wild on the field.

While its not much of a surprise, that Alabama tickets are at the top of our list, we were shocked to see that Georgia Bulldogs tickets are the second hottest SEC ticket ranking above Florida Gators tickets.  The Gators have a ton of talent coming back and ring in a new era with heralded QB John Brantley. The Florida-Georgia October 30th match-up in Jacksonville will definitely be one you don’t want to miss.

Auburn Tigers tickets, LSU Tigers tickets and Tennessee Volunteers tickets fall 7, 8 and 9 respectively showing their tickets are attracting similar demand. While the South Carolina Gamecocks tickets come in at #18. Many preseason predictors have the Gamecocks coming in ahead of Tennessee and Georgia in the SEC East so this could get interesting. Finally, despite ranking in the top 20 of the USA Today poll, the Arkansas Razorbacks just barely missed our list coming in at #26.

This has definitely been an off-season many SEC teams want to forget. From brawls with Tennessee football players to iffy deals with agents, fans are ready to stop hearing about the off-the-field drama and are eagerly awaiting kickoff.  We’re seeing strong demand for almost every SEC team and there are certainly some epic battles ahead of us this season.

Less than three weeks to go until the 2010-2011 college football season. Tailgaters are ready. Players are ready. Coaches are ready.
