American Idol Tryouts Announced

Monday, June 21st, 2010

American Idols Live tickets have been hot sellers with the tour kicking off in just 10 days. The tour features the top 10 finalists including winner Lee Dewyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox.

While this season is history American Idols is already gearing up for next season. Producers just announced their slate of audition cities. The reality show will bring their tryout circus to Nashville, Miilwaukee, New Orleans, East Rutherford Austin and San Francisco.

With the departure of judge Simon Cowell, American Idol has made some changes. The biggest one includes lowering the eligibility age to 15 (previously, hopefuls had to be 16-years-old to audition; the upper age limit remains 28).

“A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16,” said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, executive producer of “American Idol.” “Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool.”

Here’s the current list of audition cities, dates and venues:

Nashville, TN Saturday, July 17, Bridgestone Arena
Milwaukee, WI Wednesday, July 21, Bradley Center
New Orleans, LA Monday, July 26, TBA
East Rutherford, NJ Tuesday, Aug. 3, IZOD Center
Austin, TX Wednesday, Aug. 11, Frank Erwin Center
San Francisco, CA Thursday, Aug. 19, AT&T Park

Good luck to those auditioning. Stay tuned here for all the latest on American Idols LIVE tickets.

American Idol Crystal Bowersox Records Debut Album

Friday, June 18th, 2010

It’s exactly two weeks until the American Idols LIVE tour kicks off and American Idols LIVE tickets are still in hot demand. We know you AI fans are hungry so here’s s a little AI fix to entertain you while you wait for your chance to see the top 10 live.

Runner-up, Crystal Bowersox just started recording material for her debut album. Producer Wayne Wilkins who has worked with Jordin Sparks and Beyoncé, told Billboard.com that he is highly impressed: “She’s the real deal,” producer/songwriter Wayne Wilkins — who hit the studio with Bowersox on Wednesday (June 16). I’ve only worked with a couple of ‘Amerian Idol’ contestants before, and in terms of songwriting, she’s the most developed on that front. She literally could sit in a room with anybody, grab a guitar and start writing.”

In a bit of a suprise,  it sounds like we may see Crystal coming out of her comfort zone and trying a bit of edgy pop:

“We did one song that I wouldn’t say was totally pop, but it had slightly more of a commercial edge to it,” says Wilkins, who adds that the “Idol” finalist already has “an album’s worth” of material that boasts a more “folky” vibe in the Melissa Etheridge vein. “The other song was a bit darker and had a breakbeat on it. They were contrasting but still fit with her genre.”

However it looks like the album will be on hold once the American Idols Live tour kicks off in July.  The massive, 48-stop American Idols LIVE tour features the 10 finalists — Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Katie Stevens, Lee DeWyze, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, and Tim Urban.

Check out Crystal and American Idols LIVE tickets on FanSnap.

Bret Michaels Steals American Idol Thunder

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Before American Idol Live ticket holders get to see the top 10 on tour, it was Crystal vs Lee battling for the crown. Both amazing singers. But in the end, the sweet-faced, guitar-playing, shy-guy won. And with that, season nine of American Idol has come to a close. Luckily fans don’t have to wait long for the American Idol Live tour which kicks off July 5th.

While this was the show to reveal the American Idol winner, the big winner of the night wasn’t even DeWyze. Instead it was Bret Michaels of Poison, who’s faced some serious health scares of late. Bret performed Poison’s hit “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” on the American Idol  finale and then announced yesterday that his tour is back on. And after the fan reaction to his AI performance, rumors are swirling that Bret may replace Simon Cowell.

The 47-year-old Poison singer and winner of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice will play the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi on Friday night and tour throughout the summer.

With all his success, according to MTV.com, Bret offered DeWyze some advice: “Here’s the thing: Enjoy what you’re doing, live in the moment, get good people around you, and you’ll have a long career.” Sounds like a plan Bret!

Keep up with the latest on both tours and search for American Idol Live tickets and Bret Michaels tickets with FanSnap.

Glee Live vs American Idols Live Tour Tickets

Friday, May 7th, 2010

FanSnap Fan Guest Post

Hi there! Calvin Philips here, a guest blogger, talking to you about the upcoming tours of Glee and American Idol. I’m a faithful watcher of both, so my insight is trustworthy. Sort of. Both shows have people who can sing, and also people who can’t. Both have a brutally honest, and in Glee’s case just flat out mean, antagonist. Gleeks bet the duck’s in the hat, while American Idolites bet that (or in my case just hope for) Crystal to keep her hat in the ring the longest. Yes, I know my humor falls flat a touch, so on to a crash course in each of the tours. How could I mess that up?

Two tours, both alike in dignity, in our fair country, something something something, then the two lovers die. I have attended American Idol several times before, but have never been to Glee, though I am going to the L.A. show on May 22nd. I’ll report back if this blog post is good enough to let me do another one. I can’t wait though. But now, with an open heart and an empty seat, I say unto you in the words of my uncle…

ALLEZ TOURING!
