Thanksgiving Day NFL Games

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

We here at FanSnap cherish the Thanksgiving triumvirate of family, food and football! Of course Turkey Day is a time to give thanks, but we confess, we love to watch Thanksgiving Day football. If you’re lucky enough to be in Detroit, Denver or Dallas on Thanksgiving, we thought you might want to know which game was the toughest ticket to score so we pulled together this chart of average ticket prices.

Average ticket prices for Thanksgiving Day NFL games

It’s no contest. It’s the Big D. Raiders at Dallas is the hot ticket. The Gaints @ Broncos was equally tough to get a few weeks ago before they dropped a few games. Since the Broncos started losing, ticket prices have gone down and availability has gone up.

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions Ford Field (Detroit, MI)
Thu, Nov 26 at 12:30PM   300+ tickets

Oakland Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys Cowboys Stadium (Arlington, TX)
Thu, Nov 26 at 3:15PM   400+ tickets

New York Giants @ Denver Broncos Invesco Field at Mile High (Denver, CO)
Thu, Nov 26 at 6:20PM   500+ tickets from $31

Happy Thanksgiving from FanSnap and for those of you not in Dallas, Denver or Detroit; remember to grab a wing, a leg and a spot close to the TV!

FanSnap’s Most Popular NFL Tickets in Oct.

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

During October, the Giants moved up three slots to the #1 most searched for NFL tickets on FanSnap.  The Vikings also moved up three slots to the #6 hottest tickets in the NFL, thanks to the high profile play of the definitely not retired Brett Favre.  The undefeated Saints and the Dolphins also moved into the top ten:

1.  NY Giants tickets

2.  Pittsburgh Steelers tickets

3.  Dallas Cowboys tickets

4.  Chicago Bears tickets

5.  Philadelphia Eagles tickets

6.  Minnesota Vikings tickets

7.  Denver Broncos tickets

8.  New England Patriots tickets

9.  New Orleans Saints tickets

10.  Miami Dolphins tickets

Speaking of Favre, he enjoyed himself immensely this past weekend as he threw for four touchdowns in the Vikings’ visit to the Packers at Lambeau Field.  Green Bay fans, who are most certainly counting on Favre to retire into the Hall of Fame as a Packer, nonetheless booed him mightily.  Brett, comfortable as if he were wearing his Wranglers,  just took the Cheesehead chortles in stride and torched his old team for old times sake.  Gee, maybe they will see each other in the NFL playoffs again!

Broncos - Steelers Tickets to the Fireworks Show!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Denver Broncos fans have had a lot to cheer about this year. The team is 6-1 and QB Kyle Orton is playing great (Jay who?). Rookie running back Knowshon Moreno is having a great year (my fantasy team thanks you). The team has had some great games this year already, especially the home win against the New England Patriots last month where receiver Brandon Marshall had two TD catches.

Invesco Field at Mile High will be rocking this Monday Night as yet another powerhouse franchise, the Pittsburgh Steelers, comes to town with ESPN satellite trucks in tow. Coach Mike Tomlin brings the defending Super Bowl champions, the only team to take down Favre and the Vikings this year, into Denver nice and rested after a bye week. QB Ben Roethlisberger brings the #2 passing offense to town, while Orton is no slouch. The two QBs have 20 touchdowns between them!

This is one of the hottest regular season NFL tickets of the year. The good news is that a quick search on FanSnap shows listings of 2,000+ tickets available from eight ticket providers: StubHub, TicketNetwork, Razorgator, eBay, Ticket Solutions, Totally Tickets, Great Seats Ltd, and Golden Tickets.

Check them out!

Let the fireworks begin!

5-0 Broncos and Colts Tickets Both Smokin’

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Two of the key games we highlighted earlier this week were equally entertaining today, with the Indianapolis Colts pounding the Tennessee Titans and the Denver Broncos toppling the New England Patriots in overtime.  Peyton Manning has passed for 300 yards in every game this year.  Kyle Orton has Broncos fans saying “Jay Cutler who?”

Coaches Josh McDaniels of the Denver and Jim Caldwell of Indianapolis off to a great start, two of only a handful of first-year coaches to ever start the season 5-0 and the first time two coaches have pulled this off in the same year.

Can they keep it up?  They both have tough schedules and yes, they do play each other in December!

Sun, Dec 13  5,000+ tickets from $55
Check out the key upcoming home games for both teams.  A search on FanSnap finds thousands of available tickets - from the fifty yard line to the top row, available for each game.  As usual, there is tremendous variability in ticket sellers’ asking prices, so be to zoom into the FanSnap Maps to find the great values, and be sure to check back often.
San Francisco 49ers @ Indianapolis Colts tickets - Lucas Oil Stadium
Sun, Nov 1  2,000+ tickets from $74
New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts tickets - Lucas Oil Stadium
Sun, Nov 15  3,000+ tickets from $109
New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts tickets - Lucas Oil Stadium
Sun, Dec 27  5,000+ tickets from $62
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos tickets - Invesco Field at Mile High
Mon, Nov 9  3,000+ tickets from $75
San Diego Chargers @ Denver Broncos tickets - Invesco Field at Mile High
Sun, Nov 22  4,000+ tickets from $50
New York Giants @ Denver Broncos tickets - Invesco Field at Mile High
Thu, Nov 26  4,000+ tickets from $69
Is it too early for the ‘72 Miami Dolphins to get nervous?  Can one of these teams run the table?  The Patriots couldn’t close the deal in 2007, thanks to the other Manning, Eli.  Would it really surprise you if Peyton were the QB to make it happen?  Stay tuned…  the season is long.

NFL Tickets Single Game On Sales in July

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

NFL fans who sell their extra football tickets on the dozens of ticket sites searched by FanSnap have been making their listings available for some time now, of course.  Most are season ticket holders who are selling the extras for games they can not attend.

Many fans buy these hot tickets as soon as possible to lock in in their entertainment plans.  However, many football fans wait until the team makes any unsold tickets from the box office available first.  If those fans don’t find tickets from the team that meet their needs, then they come to FanSnap.

This moment of truth is called the single game tickets on sale date.  At some point after each NFL team is convinced they have sold all the season tickets they can, each team releases their remaining available tickets to the general public.  A number of teams have already done so.  A few teams wait until sometime in August right before the preseason games start.

The following NFL teams have single game “on sales” coming up in July:

Jul 11  Cleveland Browns tickets

Jul 17  Baltimore Ravens tickets

Jul 18  Tennessee Titans tickets

Jul 18  Denver Broncos tickets

Jul 25  Chicago Bears tickets

Good luck, football fans!  If you don’t find what you want, you know where to find us.  As you can see, there are thousands of ticket listings per game available, some with your name on them!
