Dave Matthews Band Summer Concert Tour 2010- Thoughts From a Longtime Fan, and Where To Score the Best Tickets

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Music, for me, starts and ends with Dave Matthews Band. My parents gave me “Crash” for my ninth birthday, and although I probably didn’t understand it at the time, this was the first album that I ever truly appreciated. It was also the album that sparked my love and passion for music. However obscure my musical tastes have been over the past twelve years, DMB continues to be the number one band I listen to.

I remember playing the drums as a kid, trying (but always failing) to match Carter Beauford’s sound. I was intrigued by the fact that this guy (as well as the rest of the band) almost NEVER plays the same thing twice. The first time I saw DMB live in 2004, Tim Reynolds jumped on stage and played a guitar solo with his teeth at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At another concert, after the release of “Stand Up” in 2005, the Dave faithful and I stuck it out through 50 mile an hour winds in the dusty New Mexican desert. I saw the band play again at the Pavilion in 2009, the spring after original band member Leroi Moore tragically died in an ATV accident and just before the release of “Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux King.” And although these shows and albums were all different in their own way, one common factor has stayed with the band throughout their history: they play great music, simply for the sake of playing great music.

To me, there is nothing better than a Dave Matthews Band concert. I have seen him a handful of times, and plan to see him again this summer when their summer concert tour hits Dave’s current home state of Washington (at the Gorge Amphitheater). So whether or not you are a long time fan like me, or just a music fan in general, be absolutely sure to check out Dave Matthews Band this summer.

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Some of the bigger festivals are coming up and wanted to get a feel for which weekend shidig fans would be most excited for. It’s a little unfair to compare based on today’s ticket prices and availability given some lineups were just announced and some festivals are later in the summer than others, but we did it anyway.  Coachella, Sasquatch, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo are the biggies, but it appears based on ticket price and availability that Bonnaroo is the hottest ticket — at least at the moment.

FanSnap’s Most Popular Artists for July

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Music fans continue to have an unbelievable number of entertainment choices this summer.   Interest in many of the acts has stayed strong all summer, even as new tours hit the road.

During July, hitmaker Taylor Swift retook the number one position as the most searched for artist on FanSnap.  Big movers were Dave Matthews, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban, all up several slots from June.  Fans voted with their round the clock searches, as Lil Wayne and Rascal Flatts moved into the top 15 “hot list” this month.

I am really looking forward to Pearl Jam announcing more shows soon!

Are these some great tours or what?

1.  Taylor Swift tickets

2.  Dave Matthews tickets

3.  Jonas Brothers tickets

4.  Aerosmith/ZZ Top tickets

5. Phish tickets

6.  Kenny Chesney tickets

7.  American Idols Live Tour tickets

8.  Keith Urban tickets

9.  Kid Rock/Lynyrd Skynyrd tickets

10. Lil Wayne tickets

11. Rascal Flatts tickets

12.  Blink 182 tickets

13.  Nickelback tickets

14.  Paul McCartney tickets

15.  U2 tickets

I am going to Green Day and Foreigner shows this month.  Who are you catching?

Mike
