NFL fans looking for tickets to see the New England Patriots and New York Giants play in the Super Bowl have been watching market prices closely all week since the match up was determined. The ticket is hot, pricier than either of the last two years. Availability is not a problem… FanSnap has found 11,000 ticket listings available from a record 23 different ticket sites. The question is to buy now or wait?
Often prices decline as an event nears, although ticket selection gets picked over as tickets are sold or ticket sellers change their mind and pull their tickets off the market. That’s the calculus a buyer is doing as they decide what tickets are right for them… and at what price.
It’s not always straightforward. At last year’s Packers vs Steelers Super Bowl in Jerry Jones’ snow-bound temple, sellers flooded the market early but then supply dropped tremendously and as a result, asking prices rebounded higher.
The prior year, the Colts vs Saints Super Bowl was characterized by rising supply and prices dropped the entire two weeks.
What will happen this year? The only thing for sure is that getting flights and hotels is the hard part. Perhaps regional NFL fans will just make the day trip and tip the balance. Stay tuned!
Just two games remaining until the Super Bowl! The AFC and NFC Championships are next Sunday, Jan 22.
Those of you who thought the Packers would repeat, or that the Saints were the hottest team in the NFL? You were wrong.
Who will win? Whatever the outcome, you can go to these games to cheer on your team, and even find Super Bowl XLVI tickets as FanSnap has found thousands on the best ticket sites across the web!
Led by some great defenses and solid QB play, the Ravens, Patriots, Giants, and surprising 49ers are just one game away from playing for the Lombardi Trophy. Can Tom Brady add to his legacy? Can Eli Manning pick up a second ring? Can Ray Lewis lead the decade’s most dominant defense to the promised land again? Maybe we will even see a Harbaugh brothers title game?

Our partners over at Bing have some great Super Bowl trend data on their blog that’s worth checking out:
Before we tell you what the data shows, let’s be clear about what the data does NOT show. FanSnap is a ticket shopping-comparison site. We help fans compare tickets from 50+ sites to find the best deals on event tickets. As part of that free service, we know where fans are searching from. So, for example, if you’re in Wisconsin and you search for tickets to the Packers – Vikings game in Minnesota, we assume you’re a Packers fan. And, If you’re searching for the same game and you live in Minnesota, we assume you’re a Vikings fan.
This isn’t perfect. For example, Vikings fans live in Wisconsin and vice versa. But, because we can’t possibly know which team you’re a fan of, it’s the best available proxy.
Methodology
We looked at searches by state for every game this season to determine which state is most actively looking for it’s team’s tickets. So for example, for the Packers – Vikings game in Minnesota, how many ticket searches came from Wisconsin? We then combined those results for every team’s regular season away games. Here’s which team’s fans travel best.
What’s interesting about this list is really the Jets and Bears should be at the top of this list. The packers numbers came almost entirely from the game at Minnesota. What seems clear from this data is the hottest Super Bowl ticket this year would likely have been a Jets – Bears matchup.
The two winningest franchises in football will meet in Super Bowl XLV, the first Super Bowl in the new Cowboy Stadium. The Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers look to add another Lombardi Trophy to their respective trophy cases with a win in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, February 6.

Ticket prices for two together start at $2,658 in the Upper Corner

Lower End tickets start at $2,855
*Last year at this time, Super Bowl tickets averaged $3,034. Lowest price tickets were $1,597.
What Will Ticket Prices Do?
The wild cards in the mix are the fans of the other two teams that could have been going to Dallas. New York is a massive market with fan base and Chicago fans have been hungry for championship tickets — driving up ticket prices for the Stanley Cup finals and the NFC Championship game.
Jets and Bears fans were in the market for Super Bowl tickets yesterday and will likely be sellers this week. All of that activity will have an impact on the ticket market. Just what that impact will be is jet to be seen.
What FanSnap does best is help fans find the best deals regardless of what market prices are doing. Shopping and comparing on FanSnap regularly saves fans 20% – 50% — as is illustrated in the best value chart above.

Times an interesting story about what the rating mean for media and how social media impacted the viewership.
PBSNewsHour talks about the Saints going home to New Orleans and “reawakening” the region. “It’s Mardi Gras 10 times over.”
Gregg Easterbrook of Tuesday Morning Quarterback on ESPN.com talks about the boldness of the Saints as being key to their victory, “Boldness was the key to the New Orleans victory — not just the onside kick to open the second half, but also Sean Payton’s decision to try for a touchdown on fourth-and-goal at the Colts’ 1-yard line, trailing 10-3. Though that play failed, the failure was a tremendous success — fortune favors the bold!” Read more here.

California
Louisiana
New York
Texas
Florida
The Dolphins are a hot ticket right now, but we’re going to assume Florida made the top 5 because the Super Bowl is being played in Maimi and not because fans expect to see the Dolphins in the big game. The other four locations, however, are very interesting. If fan confidence is an accurate gauge for a team’s success, the Chargers, Saints, Jets and Cowboys are favorites to play in the Super Bowl. Based on search results so far, expect to see the San Diego Chargers face the New Orleans Saints in the Super Bowl.
