The Minnesota Public Radio show A Praire Home Companion is synonymous with the name of its host of more than 30 years, Garrison Keillor. Playing an eclectic collection of songs including country music to showcase local musicians, the show also includes skits and spoofs of commercials aired by non-existent sponsors and a Keillor monologue entitled "The News from Lake Wobegone," based on an imaginary lake in Minnesota. Apart from radio shows, Keillor has written several articles and books as well as a syndicated newspaper column.
