Michigan State University's football program is called the Michigan Spartans. The Spartans play in NCAA Division I-A as a part of the Big Ten Conference. Their home games are played at the Spartan Stadium, a 75,000-plus capacity football ground in the center of campus in East Lansing, Michigan. It is the Big Ten's fifth largest stadium. The atmosphere in the home ground has been described as a "snake pit," an intimidating sign for opposing teams.
