Started as the Performing Arts Company of Florida in 1974 with 12 young dancers, the dance group changed its name to Southern Ballet Theatre in 1978 and again to Orlando Ballet in 2002. Opening a dance school in 1982 to meet the rising demand for dance instruction, the company continued to flourish with more professional international dancers of repute joining the group over the years. Bobb Carr Performing Arts Center is the venue for the annual season's performances of the Orlando Ballet.
