Disco and European electronic music first inspired Adam Young of Owl City to make music. After his initial EP Of June and the album Maybe I'm Dreaming succeeded in climbing the Billboard electronic albums chart, Owl City signed up with a major label to release the next album Ocean Eyes in 2009. The album debuted at #27 on the Billboard 200, reached the top 10 on the U.S. charts, and went on to be certified gold. "Fireflies," a single from the album, topped the U.S., Canada and U.K. charts.
