The men's basketball program at the University of Pittsburgh is nicknamed the Pittsburgh Panthers. They have enjoyed a considerable amount of success in the NCAA. Pitt plays in the Big East Conference, and have won two Helms Athletic Foundation Championships (1928, 1930), and has reached one Final Four (1941). Their home arena, the Petersen Events Center, has seen the Panthers become a force to be reckoned with in college basketball, with 37 players going on to play professionally.
