Rush, the Canadian rock band based in Toronto, was formed in August 1968. The band comprises Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart. Rush's music style has changed over the years, beginning with blues-inspired rock, evolving to hard rock, progressive rock, and a period with heavy use of synthesizers. Rush has 24 gold records and 14 platinum records to its credit and ranks 79th in U.S. album sales with 25 million units. The band's estimated worldwide album sales are close to 40 million.
