With book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, Shrek the Musical is based on the 1990 picture book Shrek! by William Steigh and the 2001 film of the same name. The production opened in December 2008 after a trial run in Seattle. The musical opened a North America Tour in July 2010 and is set to begin performing on London's West End in 2011.
