The University of Southern Mississippi's football team, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, plays in Conference USA as a part of NCAA's Division I. The Golden Eagles have won two national championships. They play their home games at the M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The stadium's attendance record of 36,232 was set in the 2009 for the season opener against Alcorn State.
