American blues-rock music duo The Black Keys, comprising Dan Aurbach and Patrick Carney, came into existence in Akron, Ohio, in 2001. They came out with five studio albums and some collaborative live album projects. The Black Keys are frequently compared to blues band The White Stripes, and their style and energy matches the Jimi Hendrix Experience and early blues artists such as Muddy Waters and Elmore James. In 2009, they performed with The Roots, Public Enemy and joined the Independent Music Awards judging panel.
