American alternative band Wilco, short for "will comply," was formed in 1994 by former members of the country group Uncle Tupelo, singer Jeff Tweedy and bass guitarist John Stirrat. Guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalists Pat Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen and drummer Glenn Kotche complete the current lineup. Their music is inspired by artists such as Bill Fay and Television and has in turn influenced a number of modern alternative rock acts. Their seventh studio album, Wilco (The Album), was released in 2009.
