Young Frankenstein is a musical with book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Brooks. The musical is based on the 1974 comedy film of the same name, directed by Brooks. Young Frankenstein is a parody of the horror film genre, especially referencing the Frankenstein movie franchise. The musical opened on November 2007 and ran until January 2009, totaling 484 performances. It went on to tour the U.S. later in 2009.
